Renting equipment for summer activities can be expensive, but Team Dover members may find low rates at the Outdoor Recreation Office.

Outdoor Rec offers everything from hunting and fishing licenses, to park passes and surf tags.

"Many people rent from us because we're conveniently located on base, our prices are better than anywhere else and there is a good selection of equipment," said Chief Master Sgt. (ret.) Chris Smith, 436th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Rec manager.

Outdoor Rec also offers bow and arrow rentals, padded sumo wrestling suits, paintball equipment and propane tank refills.

"Paintball is a popular and fun sport that many people participate in," said Chris Rosebrooks. 436th FSS Outdoor Rec assistant. "Airmen rent out our field because we're cheaper than most places and it'll save on gas money playing on-base."

Guests of DoD ID card holders are allowed to participate in paintball games. Children between the ages of 10 - 16 require parent's consent.

"We get numerous reservations for private paintball parties and large turn-outs on open play-days," said Mr. Rosebrooks, "And there are also a lot of safety features we provide along with rental equipment, not just for paintball."

Team Dover members can also rent lawn and garden equipment, and camping supplies, such as campers, sleeping bags, lanterns, tents and much more.

"We're proud to serve our military members," he said. "We're here to help others have a good time and take care of any issues, as well as provide information from our well-qualified staff. If there are any issues with the equipment, customers are more than welcome to bring it back."

One customer commends Outdoor Rec for their services.

"They offer outstanding and reliable service, and they provide a much-needed service for base members, said Capt. David Weaver, 709th Airlift Squadron pilot. "I would highly recommend their services."

To maintain the high quality of service, Mr. Rosebrooks said Outdoor Rec tries to send out surveys every year and have customer comment cards available to customers.
"My goal is to make sure every one has as positive an experience as I've had because when I used Outdoor Rec, it was convenient and the price was right," said Chief Smith. "Now, I'm working for Outdoor Rec because I enjoyed all my experiences as an active-duty Airman and wanted to continue to be associated with the Air Force after retiring. Plus, I enjoy serving the base and seeing people again that I've known for a long time."

"Customers can trust that I'll do everything I can to make it right," he said.

The Outdoor Recreation Office is open Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is closed Sun. and holidays through September. For more information or reservations, call 677-3959.
