Team Dover recently celebrated the stand up of the new 436th Force Support Squadron at The Landings Club Feb. 6.

Maj. Michael Mullins, assumed command of the new organization, which is a combination of the former 436th Mission Support and 436th Services Squadrons.

"This is a historic day as we stand down two squadrons rich in history and accomplishments," said Col. Todd Emmert, 436th Mission Support Group commander. "Today, we stand up a new squadron full of hope and promise."

Colonel Emmert expressed his confidence in the success of the organizations that were poised for change.

"I have two outstanding commanders who planned and prepared for the merger," said the colonel. "They had a sense of urgency when they planned the merger nearly a year in advance and moved 90 percent of the squadron into their new location two months ahead of schedule."

They had the right vision - a seamless transition that is transparent to the base, said Colonel Emmert.

At parade rest one squadron stood, who wore gray Airman Battle Uniforms that represented 436th MSS Airmen. The other squadron wore the unique white uniform fit for a chef and chic fitness polo uniforms that represented 436th SVS Airmen. The two separate formations took the first steps to join together as one flight.

Lt. Col. Brian Eddy, relinquished command of the 436th SVS.

"Along with various Air Mobility Command and Air Force-level awards, the Services Squadron has worked to ensure the men and women of Team Dover and their families have the best programs and facilities," said Colonel Eddy.

"You are a group of great individuals, but an even more amazing team," said Colonel Eddy to his 436th SVS Airmen. "Remember that together nothing can stop you because of all that you have done during the past two years and I believe more than any other Services Squadron out there."

Major Mullins shared his excitement in his first words to the new squadron.

"Let me start by saying a heartfelt thanks to Colonel Manson Morris, [436th Airlift Wing commander], and Colonel Emmert for giving me the honor and privilege of taking command of this great new squadron," said Major Mullins, after he was handed the 436th FSS guidon.

"Traditional services and mission support activities are now under one command structure, which will create a one-stop shop for the members of Team Dover," said Major Mullins. "We look forward to providing you with outstanding force support in the coming months."
