ORI: Getting you ready!

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Last week, Team Dover participated in a deployment exercise to practice and test units' and individual Airmen's ability to prepare and deploy for combat.

According to the 436th Airlift Wing Plans and Programs office, the Nov. 1 through 4 DEPEX was the first of many coming exercise and training opportunities to get the base Airmen ready for the Operational Readiness Inspection, scheduled for Summer 2008.

Maj. Paul Theriot, 436th AW Plans and Programs, summed up the ORI as potentially the single-most significant event that Airmen will experience at Dover.

"As members of Team Dover, you have undoubtedly witnessed a multitude of events, many of which fall into the category of 'big deal,'" he said. "(Yet another) big deal is on the horizon - Dover's ORI."

To help prepare Dover Airmen for the coming ORI, The Airlifter will run periodic updates and tips to help prepare Airmen for the ORI.

"Since joining Team Dover a few weeks ago, I have been impressed by the professionalism and dedication to the mission our Airmen display," said Chief Master Sgt. John Wood, 436th AW command chief. "It is easy to see why the Installation Excellence Team selected our base as the Air Mobility Command nominee for this prestigious award.

"Now," continued the chief, "it's time to roll up the sleeves again and prepare for the ORI!

"Whether you're a brand-new airman, lieutenant or perhaps an old chief like me, one thing is consistent," he said. "With the right preparation and attitude Team Dover will once again show AMC that we are the best of the best next summer during the inspection."
