Team Dover Airman wins communications field’s highest award

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --  Most Airmen take for granted how much they rely on computers, telephones and the internet to complete their missions. One Team Dover Airman has successfully guaranteed that everyone's equipment works without a hitch.

Master Sgt. David White, 436th Communications Squadron plans and implementations flight superintendent, won an Information Dominance Award, the 2013 Air Force Outstanding Cyberspace Systems Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Award.

"The opportunity to be recognized at the Air Force level means that he has faced some tough competition," said Maj. Steven Peña, 436th CS commander. "For him to come out on top speaks volumes about who he is as a technician, as a person, and as an Airman."

The Air Force Outstanding Cyberspace Systems SNCO Award is the highest level award given in the Air Force communications field. This award is one of a few annual awards grouped together into the Air Force Information Dominance Awards. These awards recognize Air Force military members (officers and enlisted), federal civilian employees, teams, and units for sustained superior performance while providing information dominance and cyberspace operations to Air Force and/or Department of Defense missions and operations.


"When you get up to the superintendent level, it's really a reflection of the Airmen that are working with you and for you," said White. "When you're around great people, great things will happen."


White also won this award at the squadron and Air Mobility Command level.


"White winning this award tells us here at the 436th CS that the initiatives, the projects, and the level of work that he is doing is impacting at the Air Force level," said Capt. Rosaline Mailandt-Norris, 436th CS operations flight commander.


White is a newcomer to Dover AFB; arriving in July of last year after a tour at Ramstein Air Base, Germany as the 693d Intelligence Support Squadron operations superintendent. When he arrived at Dover AFB, he began work as the 436th CS operations flight superintendent, but now works as the 436th CS plans and implantations flight superintendent.


Mailandt-Norris spoke highly of White's future in the 436th Communications Squadron and the Air Force.


"I'm expecting him as he goes forward to keep developing the Airmen who make it possible for everyone else to do their mission," said Mailandt-Norris.
