The road to weight loss: An Airman's perspecitve, week two Published Jan. 25, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Matthew Hubby 436th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The Biggest Winner contest finished its second week, and so far I'm starting to plateau - this is not good. I should have lost some more weight this week. I started this week at 180.1 and today's weigh-in put me in at 180.9 - almost a whole pound gained from last week. Looking back, I can see why the weight is starting to creep back on. This weekend I wasn't as good as I could have been. I ate at home, cooked good healthy meals, and tried to stay away from anything unhealthy. I do admit straying a couple of times though, due to time constraints and the plain old "I don't feel like cooking" mentality. So, to not make the same mistakes, I've learned pre-planning is important. I have also learned it is important to accept mistakes and move forward with the knowledge that I have to correct them. When it comes down to it, the only way someone can make a change in their life is to make a conscious effort to make the change. Biggest Winner has provided me not only an opportunity to make this change, but also to track it. How many people took my challenge last week and have been taking the time out of their day to do extra exercise? Anyone have tips of their own to pass on to others? If so, please send me an E-mail at matthew.hubby@us.af.mil, and I'll put some in next week. Good luck to all Airmen out there on their fitness assessments, and remember, eat healthy, work out and keep pushing!
