Excellence in All We Do Published Feb. 25, 2010 By Maj Teresa K. Darrow 436th Force Support Squadron DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del -- As you are probably aware, the 2010 Winter Olympics has been going on for the past couple weeks, and will come to a conclusion in a few days. The many athletes who have competed in many different sports have something in common: they have all committed themselves to excellence. Another word for excellence is superiority, and I would have to agree that to be an Olympic athlete, one must be superior in the sport they have decided to compete in. This drive for excellence has taken many of these Olympians to the top of their sport, and we can now refer to them as some of the best athletes in the world since they have won gold, silver and bronze medals. Here at Dover Air Force Base, we recently went through an evaluation to compete for the 2010 Air Force Commander-in-Chief's Installation Excellence Award, hosting a four-member selection team who had to decide if Dover will be the top installation in the Air Force that has done its best with its resources to support the mission. Excellence is the common theme here, and also happens to be part of one of the Air Force core values, "Excellence in All We Do." Just like the Olympic athletes have trained and gone through preliminary trials and competitions, our Team Dover Airmen and civilians also prepared for the CINC Installation Excellence Award competition by striving for excellence on a daily basis, and is the main reason why Dover has already been named as the top Air Mobility Command Installation and made it to the finals for the Air Force level award. By following the Air Force core value, "Excellence in All We Do," the individuals who make up Team Dover will continue to prove that Dover Air Force Base is superior in completing its mission focus to safely fly and fix aircraft, prepare and deploy Airmen, move cargo, and return American's fallen with dignity, honor and respect. I challenge each and every one of you to always strive for excellence in all you do and commit yourself to doing your best in everything you pursue, and you too will achieve success in your career and life in general.
