This Sunday, functional experts from across Air Mobility Command will converge on Dover Air Force Base to evaluate our conformance with higher headquarters directives and to assess our in-garrison disaster response capabilities. Please help me extend a warm Dover AFB welcome to both the AMC Inspector General Team and the AMC Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Program Team.

Over the course of next week we will receive a Unit Compliance Inspection and an evaluation of our logistical functions. These inspections, while evaluating different requirements, have similar goals ... to assess Team Dover's ability to professionally accomplish our mobility mission.

I know most of us have heard the expression, "We're here to help," jokingly associated with the IG or other inspectors. Units being inspected can have a tendency to take a defensive posture when interfacing with inspection team members. I expect you to take the opposite approach. Inspections are not events to be feared, but rather opportunities to showcase your best practices.

Inspectors would much rather highlight your great initiative and efforts than write a negative account of your programs. Your meticulous attention to detail and innovative methods of accomplishing our daily wartime requirements in an era of diminishing resources deserve to be highlighted. Enthusiastically invite the inspectors into your workplace. Show the teams your mastery of your functional areas and proudly display all of your programs and compliance items!

Our preparation for these inspections has been extensive, and each of you has invested considerable time and energy to ensure your units are in compliance with numerous directives and instructions. This effort has been about a lot more than preparation for an inspection. It has helped to refine our already superb mission readiness. It is your continued initiative and dedication to excellence that enable us to maintain this essential capability even when there is no inspection on the horizon.

Over the coming days I have no doubt you will once again demonstrate the professionalism that is the hallmark of America's Preeminent Expeditionary Airlift Team. Thank you for all that you've done to prepare for this week, and for all that you do every day to fulfill the trust that the American people have placed in us.
