DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --  What a historic week! Regardless of your political preferences, Election Day is always inspirational. The opportunity for citizens to voice their choice for the leader of the Republic should never go unappreciated. Few things are as sacred to the fabric of America as citizens exercising their Constitutional right to vote. I hope each of you took the opportunity to have your voice heard. Coincidentally, Tuesday is Veteran's Day, and it's important to honor those who guarantee our constitutional rights remain intact. Please take the time to recognize those who have and continue to sacrifice for our great nation.

Just as important as those who wear the uniform are the families that support them. November is Military Family Month. To honor our Team Dover military families, the Airman & Family Readiness Center will host an information fair at The Landings Club Nov. 17. This event highlights a portion of the programs available to military families, and should be a lot of fun. The Airman & Family Readiness Center is also hosting a couple of workshops, but they can not do enough to celebrate our military families. Every one of you provides the backbone and support the men and women serving in the military need to make it through, and we can never thank you enough.

Another marquee event this month was the grand opening of the new Airman's Outpost in the Eagle Lanes bowling alley. Designed by Dover Airmen, and built using Installation Excellence Award quality-of-life funds, the new Airman's Outpost is a recreational hotspot. It has pool tables, air hockey, several electronic gaming systems, a sound system that will make any parent's ears bleed, and a Blu-ray DVD entertainment system. This new facility should prove to be the perfect place for our Airmen to socialize and unwind during their off-duty time.

Carrying out our duty and the mission while thanking the veterans and family members who got us here ... just two more reasons Team Dover is America's Preeminent Expeditionary Airlift Team!
