LRS….Ready to Roll! Published Oct. 6, 2015 By Lt. Col. Todd Walker Commander, 436th Logistics Readiness Squadron DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Every day I wake up excited about beginning another day; it's been a 42-year trend. The opportunity to work and interact with the greatest people in the world will do that to a man. The 330 plus men and women of the 436th Logistics Readiness Squadron enable me to continue my excitement for life as they continue to amaze me on what they bring to the fight every single day. I will always feel that the people are the reason I'm here and it's people like our very own, Gary Eley and Joe Robinson, that continue to keep your LRS Squadron "Ready to Roll." Gary Eley: Gary's a heavy mobile equipment supervisor and oversees 19 military and civilian technicians. Between his military and civilian time, he has spent over 34 years in the Vehicle Maintenance career field. His passion for what he does is unrivaled as he is completely dedicated to his people and the mission. Over the past three months, Gary's leadership enabled Team Dover to airlift countless weapons systems and aircraft all the while directing a $2.4 million refurbishing project for his facility; a project that he initiated years ago. Gary is one of the best, and I'm proud to be on his team. Joe Robinson: "Smoking" Joe works in our Vehicle Operations section and is a motor vehicle operator. Joe retired from the Air Force in 2001 and returned to us in a civilian capacity in 2004. He has been such a rock for our Vehicle Ops section, especially of late as our folks have worked numerous high-visibility projects for Team Dover. Over the past few months alone, Joe transported more than one thousand passengers while fulfilling 150 aircrew runs in direct support of 1,400 sorties here at Dover AFB. Furthermore, Joe volunteered for the 436 AW picnic and participated in the Miles 4 Mil event. Gary and Joe have given their lives to the Air Force, and every single day they are leading people, executing the mission, managing resources, and improving much more than just the LRS...they are improving our Airmen.
