A Face of Team Dover 2015: Vol. 2, No. 2 Published Feb. 17, 2015 By Roland Balik 436th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Highlighting the numerous Airmen that serve at Dover Air Force Base, "A Face of Team Dover" will introduce you to the individuals that make Team Dover "Deliver Excellence." Rank: Staff Sergeant Name: James Pitts Squadron: 436th Aerial Port Squadron, Packing and Crating Section Duty Title: Traffic Management Journeyman Months and/or years in the Air Force: 4 years and 3 months Months and/or years at Dover AFB: 3 years and 10 months Hometown: El Reno, Oklahoma "I joined the Air Force because I come from a military family; my dad was in the Navy and my brother is also in the Air Force. I didn't have the money for college and by joining, it provided me with a steady income and made me venture out of my comfort zone. The main reasons why I joined were because it gave me the opportunity to travel, go to school and allowed me to serve my country. My most memorable Air Force experience so far in my career would have to be my first deployment to Southwest Asia. I met a lot of great people, made a lot of good contacts, had an awesome section chief and got to experience a different culture. They taught me a lot about myself and upholding the standards. I also got to experience a different side of transportation by supporting presidential missions and escorting the Secret Service. What I love most about my job is having the opportunity to have a positive impact on the young troops arriving at the Super Port regardless of their background and being a good role model for them. If I can help my fellow Airman understand the bigger picture and realize the importance of it, I feel like they will better understand and accomplish the mission. On the transportation side of the Traffic Management Office, you're going to learn anything and everything here. Dover is a great base to start at."
