"The most memorable experience I've had in my Air Force career was during my honor guard tour.

When an uncle of mine died in New Jersey, they couldn't find his separation papers, so they weren't able to have an honor guard ceremony for him such as the folding of the flag and military pallbearers.

Being that I had the opportunity to go through the training, I was able to go to his funeral, fold the flag and present it to my aunt.

It put everything into perspective in the sense that when you are out there as part of the ceremony and giving the flag to the family, it is a very emotional experience.

However, it's an honorable duty and everyone should have the opportunity to go through the experiences I had as an honor guard member, receive the training and being a part of those moments."
