939th refuels C-5 from Travis

A C-5 from the 349th Airlift Wing, Travis Air Force Base, Calif., prepares to aerial refuel with a KC-135 from the 939th Air Refueling Wing over the Pacific Ocean June 15, 2006. Crewmembers from both units practiced the procedures necessary to complete this procedure, which requires surgeon-like precision, at sunset off the coast of northern California and southern Oregon. This capability is what makes strategic and tactical missions possible by extending aircraft?s endurance, range, and payload and vastly increasing the effectiveness of their response.
