Senior Airman Brandon Dale, 436th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, marshalls the 16th remanufactured C-5 Galaxy, serial # 87-0036, in to park at Dover Air Force Base, Del., after upgrade by Lockheed Martin Corp. in Marietta, Ga. on Dec. 23, 2013. The aircraft was formerly operated by the 60th Air Mobility Wing, 349th Air Mobility Wing (Air Force Reserve Command), Travis AFB, Calif., and still wears markings for the unit. Although the aircraft has completed the major airframe, engine and avionics upgrades for the C-5M configuration, it will soon be sent to Stewart Air National Guard Base, N.Y., for a complete interior upgrade. Upon completion of the interior upgrade then the aircraft will be considered fully mission configured and take on the C-5M Super Galaxy name. 87-0036, joins 15 additonal upgraded C-5s at the 436th Airlift Wing, currently the sole front-line transport Wing to operate the Super Galaxy.
