Cal Guard helps celebrate D-Day veteran's 105th birthday during pandemic

Soldiers from the California Army National Guard's 40th Infantry Division at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California, participate in a community ceremony and vehicle parade to honor retired Lt. Col. Sam Sachs on his 105th birthday, April 26, 2020, in nearby Lakewood, California. Sachs is a World War II veteran who served as a glider pilot in the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, who landed a glider in Normandy on D-Day. The California National Guard supported city officials, who organized the birthday celebration, and provided a humvee for the parade. U.S. Army Spc.
