Feb. 2, 2016 | 7:20
160202-N-N0701-0001 NORFOLK (Feb. 2, 2016) A U.S. Fleet Forces Command-sponsored video production demonstrates the need for and importance of sonar training, as well as highlighting a fish behavioral study that is designed to help the Navy better understand and mitigate the potential effects of sonar on herring and other important fish species. The “Stewards of the Sea: Defending Freedom, Protecting the Environment” outreach program is designed to showcase the Navy’s efforts to monitor and mitigate the potential environmental effects of activities without jeopardizing the safety of our Sailors or impacting military readiness.
