U.S. military and CDC donate vaccine freezers to Guatemala City

U.S. Army Col. Michael Burgoyne, Senior Defense Official at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala, William Popp, U.S. Ambassador to Guatemala, Dr. Lissette Barrera, Immunization Program Coordinator, Dr. Amelia Flores, Guatemala Minister of Health, and Beatrice Lopez, laboratory advisor of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Central America Regional Office, participate in a Humanitarian Assistance Freezer Donation Ceremony and facility tour to see newly donated vaccine freezers at Centro Nacional de Biologicos, Guatemala City, Guatemala on Jun. 29, 2021. A total of six freezers were donated by the U.S. Government during the ceremony, five purchased by U.S. Southern Command and one by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as part of the U.S. effort to assist the government of Guatemala’s ongoing COVID-19 vaccination program. The United States is working with its Guatemala partners to identify and address resource needs in order to support improved quality of life for Guatemalan citizens. (U.S. Air Force video by Tech.
