During World War Two, the Marines of 6th Marine Division conducted an amphibious landing on the island of Okinawa, Japan, April 1, 1945. The arrival of the Marines on the island island initiated the battle of Okinawa, and was one of the bloodiest battles in the pacific theater during the war. (U.S. Marine video by Cpl.
