The USO in Grafenwoehr, Germany and its Army of Volunteers is Having a Real Impact in its Military Community
382nd Public Affairs Detachment
Jan. 11, 2019 | 2:06
On many U.S. bases you will now find that along with Army Community Service, Morale Welfare and Recreation and of course the Fitness Center, there is also a USO facility. Transitional bases that are hubs for Soldiers transitioning during deployment, these sites are comforting and familiar places for Soldiers who are accustomed to seeing the USO in airports. However the organization is doing more. You will still find them at all major stateside airports, and yes they are on many military bases as comfort stations for Soldiers, but as the USO in Grafenwoehr, Germany shows, with the help of volunteers, they are also reaching out into the community, helping families as well as the Soldiers. Sgt. 1st Class Ron Lee reports.
