Aerospace Ground Equipment Bead Blasting Booth
22nd Air Refueling Wing
Dec. 11, 2019 | 2:47
Airmen from the 22nd Maintenance Squadron’s Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) shop use the Bead Blasting Booth to remove obsolete green paint from equipment as well as any corrosion and impurities down to the bare metal in preparation for painting. Inside the booth, the operator must wear a disposable Tyvek suit, leather gloves, and a positive air pressure hood. All items are used to prevent exposure to personnel from chemical components in the paint being removed, such as hexavalent chromium.
