U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division conduct an amphibious assault during exercise Steel Knight 2018 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Dec. 3, 2017. Steel Knight is a division level exercise held annually throughout the entire southwest United States. The entire exercise enables the 1st Marine Division to fine tune its command and control capabilities by acting as the headquarters element for a forward-deployed Marine Expeditionary Force.
