Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242 is officially re-designated as Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 242 aboard Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan, Oct. 16, 2020. VMFA-242 is the second squadron with F-35B Lighting II capabilities to be stationed aboard MCAS Iwakuni.
