In 2020, Dover Air Force Base opened the Bedrock Innovation Lab, a state-of-the-art facility enabling Airmen to develop innovative, mission-ready solutions. Equipped with 3D printing, prototyping tools, and collaborative workspaces, the lab produces practical tools like custom drill bit holders for aircraft maintenance and touch-free door handles, enhancing efficiency, safety, and FOD prevention.

Bedrock Innovation Lab primarily ensures Dover's military is on the leading edge of technology by evaluating trends and informing Airmen on how to utilize the tools made available by the Air Force. If the scope of the project is large enough, it may eventually be adopted by other U.S. agencies.
