Airman of the Week - Senior Airman Terrence Davis Published Dec. 13, 2011 436 Airlift Wing DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Name/rank: Senior Airman Terrence Davis Squadron: 436 Maintenance Squadron Job description: Aircraft structural maintenance journeyman Dream assignment and why: Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., because I would be closer to family, and my daughter could grow up around her grandma and grandpa. Family: My wife, Shanty Davis, and daughter, Nakeiyah Davis Favorite movie: "Repos" Favorite food: Spaghetti and fried Catfish Favorite book: "The Giver" Who inspires you: I have a few people in my life that inspire me. First, My mom and dad, through their achievements, taught me to always dream big and do my best. They also taught me the value of family. My father serving his country in the Army for 24 years as my mother stood beside him the entire way. Even with my dad deployed so much throughout my childhood, and my mom working and pursuing her degree in nursing, there was not one time in my life my parents were not there for my sisters and me when we needed them. They were there to teach us, to guide us, and to love us through all of the trials and tribulations we came across. I couldn't have asked for a greater set of parents. Next, another person who inspires me is Chief Master Sgt. Gaither. He has mentored me ever since I first got to Dover Air Force Base. Through his actions and mentorship, he has taught me the true meaning of leadership and hard work. Two of the most important things he taught me are to never sell myself short on what I truly can accomplish, and to "take care of business," because laziness does not produce success. Lastly, my wife and daughter inspire me to not only be the best Airman I can be, but also the best man I can be. Each morning I come to work I dedicate everything I do to my family. I go home at the end of every day to my beautiful family and see that serving my country is putting food in their mouths, clothes on their back, and giving them a safer place to live in. This keeps me pushing myself beyond all measure, serving my country to the best of my ability. Where do you see yourself in 10 years: In 10 years, I see my wife and I with one or two more children. Career-wise I see myself as a first sergeant, with two Air Force Specialty Codes, and a tour of Military Training Instructor duty under my belt. Senior Airman Davis was selected for Airman of the Week because of his attitude, dedication and commitment to the ongoing mission here at Dover AFB as an aircraft structural maintenance journeyman. His great work ethic has put him in a category superior to his current grade of senior airman. He is without a doubt our "go-to guy" having the knowledge and capability to get the job done. He has exemplified honor and tradition as an honor guardsman; he is an avid community supporter, especially when it comes to our local youth programs and was also a recipient of the time honored Gen. Leo Marques Award for the 436th Maintenance Group. It is a privilege to share Davis' accomplishments and commend him on his selection as Airman of the Week. - Staff Sgt. Renee Peaper, Supervisor
