Name/rank: Tech. Sgt. Latersa S. Frazier

Squadron: Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations

Job description: NCO in charge of Families of the Fallen branch at AFMAO

Previous assignments: Pope Air Force Base, N.C.; Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz.; Eglin AFB, Fla.

Family: I have an 11-year-old daughter.

Favorite movie: "Pretty Woman"

Favorite food: My favorite meal is oxtails and rice, mac 'n' cheese, and fried cabbage made by my mother.

Favorite book: My favorite books right now are the textbooks for the courses I'm taking.

Dream assignment, why? I would like to be stationed at MacDill AFB, Fla., to be closer to my family.

Who inspires you? My mother inspires me. She's a great woman, who has guided me through good and bad times, and she has a good heart,

Have you been deployed? If so, what was your best experience why? My deployment to AFMAO in 2008 was the best deployment I've ever been on out of five. The joint-team mission in providing dignity, honor and respect to the fallen was very rewarding to be part of. I left the deployment a different person.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself either retired or very close to retirement and planning for life outside the military.

Tech. Sgt. Latersa Frazier is the section lead for the Fisher House for Families of the Fallen, where families from all branches of service are lodged before observing the Dignified Transfer of their fallen loved one.

Frazier supervises both deployed and permanent-party military personnel who work in different sections of AFMAO. This makes her an extremely valuable asset in the services career field and in the world of military mortuary affairs. She has served the AF with pride for 14 years, going above and beyond every opportunity she gets. She provides indispensible support to the campus for Families of the Fallen, treating each person she comes into contact with the utmost honor and respect. Frazier is a true American hero, and we're proud to call her our own!
