Airman 1st Class Brent Johns

Squadron: 736 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron

Job: C-17 crew chief

Dream assignment: Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii

Family: My mother and stepfather - Debbie and Thomas, my dad and stepmother - Kirk and Lorraine, my sister April, my half-sister Harley, and my half-brother Anthony.

Favorite movie: "The Gladiator"

Favorite food: Ribs and wings

Favorite book: "Of Mice and Men"

Who inspires you: My family and friends are a big inspiration to me. They are behind me in everything I do.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years: I'm still not sure where I see myself in 10 years. I have many goals I would like to accomplish along the way: finish my degree, get my private pilot's license, become a flying crew chief, and possibly become an officer and pilot. But it's a long road and I know I can do whatever I set my mind to.

Airman 1st Class Brent Johns was selected as the Airman of the Week because of his motivation and work ethic. Airman Johns began his training here in June 2010. Within three months, he had completed all of the required tasks for upgrade training. Airman Johns consistently takes the lead on flight line tasks with a level of knowledge comparable to crew chiefs with years of experience. It is rare to see a new crew chief grasp the reins so quickly. This week, Airman Johns worked on an aircraft quick-turn, where he was given minimal time to execute his duties, but did so without error. Airman Johns shows incredible promise and will undoubtedly remain a major contribution to the flight line and the Air Force.
