Airman 1st Class Geanny Hernandez Quiala of the 436th Aerial Port Squadron has once again brought home the gold medal in not just one, but two martial arts tournaments.

"I won the gold medal at the U.S. Open of Judo in Miami, Fla.," said Airman Hernandez Quiala.
"Then I went on to win the gold medal at the Pan American Masters in Orlando, Fla., both events were in the 66 kilogram division. Some of my teammates from the dojo earned gold medals in their divisions as well."

Before these tournaments Airman Hernandez Quiala trained hard at the Baragua Judo Kai dojo, located in Miami, Fla. While there, he practiced mainly judo, but after lessons would often get together with other members of the dojo to practice his jujitsu as well, as he is trained in both.

"We are much honored to have him train with us," said Alberto Fernandez, president of Baragua Judo Kai. "Geanny is a very fine young man, very respectful, disciplined with great personal skills. He trains very hard here at the dojo. He's worked with us for about three months."

Airman Hernandez Quiala will be next moving on to compete in the World Championships, with his teammates to represent the United States for Jujitsu in St. Petersburg, Russia.

"He's been doing very well in his training," said Mr. Fernandez. "We really wish we could keep him here forever to train with us. But we are grateful for his service to his country, and understand his duty to our country. We feel honored to support one of our servicemembers in his training."
