Dover begins Year of the Air Force Family with Harvest Festival Published Nov. 3, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Chad Padgett 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- It was a night of ninjas, princesses and super heroes as over 500 people filled the Dover Youth Center gymnasium for a night of candy, games and camaraderie at the Harvest Festival Oct. 30. "The Harvest Festival is an annual event that seems to get bigger every year," said Roxanne Lee, Youth Center recreational specialist. "It's a fun night for families. We have food, games, and information tables." The event was also Dover's kick-off event for the Year of the Air Force Family. The Secretary and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force named July 2009 - Jul 2010 Year of the Air Force Family. "The purpose of the Year of the Air Force Family is to highlight the quality of life service in place, focus on caring, and build a sense of community within the Air Force family," said Jennifer Aubrey, Airman and Family Readiness Center community readiness consultant. Dover will be offering a variety of training classes, community service and team building programs over the year to highlight the Year of the Air Force Family.
