The 436th Maintenance Squadron secured its place in the Flag Football Championship game with a 27-6 win over the 436th Operational Support Squadron Dec. 8.

After their first loss, OSS only has one more shot at securing a spot in the final game.

"We're still in the playoffs," said Onassis Bridgers, OSS coach. "OSS is always on mission so the numbers hurt us. We didn't have a good turn out today; it all depends on how many people we can get out for the next game."

OSS started off strong, coming off a win over the previously undefeated 436th Aerial Port Squadron, and scoring early in the first half of the game when their quarterback ran past four defensive linemen.

MXS quickly answered with a mid-field throw to Justin Palmer, MXS wide receiver, for his first of three touchdowns for the game. Palmer quickly followed up with an interception, putting the ball back in MXS hands just outside their goal line.

A short pass to Joe Mageau, MXS defensive lineman, gave MXS a 6 - 14 lead at the end of the first half.

"We just want to come out and play our game," said Larry McDonald, MXS coach. "Whatever happens we just leave everything out on the field, you can't ask for much more than that."

The teams battled for ground back and forth until the last few minutes of the game when Palmer scored a touchdown thanks to a long pass from the quarterback. Palmer followed up with another interception and ran the ball in for his final touchdown of the game.

"It feels good, we came out and did what we were suppose to as a team," said McDonald.

The championship game will be held Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.
