Airman 1st Class Ashley Smith arrived to us April 1, 2012, from Fort Lee, Va., 2T2 Technical School. She has done nothing but amaze us with her positive attitude and outstanding work ethic. While currently in upgrade training for her five-level certification, she scored an outstanding 90 percent on her end-of-course exam. Smith is extremely active in the community, where she has been a part of Habitat for Humanity on two separate occasions, devoted 13 off-duty hours to the wing picnic, participated in a base tour for the "Little Einstein Day-Camp," was selected to be a guide-on bearer in 4th of July parade in Philadelphia, and logged 16 off-duty hours at NASCAR races for our Port Dawg Committee. She coordinated a section takeover of the Dover Airmen Against Drunk Driving program, rallying 24 volunteers to fill the slots needed to take over the program for a weekend. Finally, she is working with Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children to coordinate visits from our active-duty Airmen here at Dover Air Force Base, Del. Her hopes are to raise the children's morale and spirits.
