DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --
Name/rank: Senior Airman Benjamin Putnam
Squadron: 436th Operations Support Squadron
Job: Aircrew flight equipment
Dream assignment and why: I would love to go to Alaska. I grew up in the mountains, and Alaska has always been a dream location. The fishing, hunting, hiking, and landscape are unrivaled.
Family: Father and mother, Walt and Cindy Putnam, and my sister Sarah Olsen.
Favorite food: Steak and potatoes.
Favorite book: Anything written by Louis L'Amour.
Who inspires you: My family, my close friends, and the dreams and aspirations I've had since I was little.
Have you been deployed? If so, what was your best experience? I don't know if you can call Germany a deployment, but I enjoyed experiencing a new culture, seeing the history, and viewing the bigger Air Force picture.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years: I will either reenlist, or get out and go back to ranching to get settled. The Air Force has been very good to me and I enjoy what I do.
Senior Airman Putnam is a very important part of 436th Operations Support Squadron aircrew flight equipment. He not only ensures day-to-day operations are supported, he also takes on various additional responsibilities, which play a huge role in the success of daily flying operations at Dover Air Force Base. Most recently, Senior Airman Putnam has taken on the tremendous responsibility of ensuring Dover's three C-5 mobility unit type codes are current and correct. This includes manually entering and validating over 4,000 line items of life-sustaining equipment. This standard deployment configuration will be used as a model throughout the C-5 community.
