Dover maintenance goes "green"
Staff Sgt. Jorge Vargas, 436th Maintenance Squadron, operates a non-motorized cycle to transport parts to a C-5 Galaxy at Dover Air Force Base recently. The cycles are environmentally-safe and have been in use since 1977 at the base. The cycles require no fuel and their frequent usage creates zero waste by-products. The cycles also require minimal maintenance, and as an added bonus, they provide operators the opportunity to work out and help keep Airmen fit to fight. (U.S. Air Force photo/Jason Minto)

Eagle Wing in Action: Jan. 25
Airman 1st Class Herman Bowser, 436th Maintenance Squadron Aerospace Ground Equipment apprentice, utilizes AGE's new washrack to clean AGE equipment. The washrack is a completely self-contained and environmentally-friendly system. It has a 600-gallon water reservoir that provides wash water. Runoff water is collected in a center drain, filtered thru another tank and returned to the 600 gallon reservoir for continued use without waste water entering ground drains, which saves an estimated 21,000 gallons of water annually.
