The Outdoor Recreation office and Information, Tickets and Travel office are scheduled to move to their new location beginning May 18 to prepare for the grand opening of their new location May 21.

The new Outdoor Recreation Center will be the home of Outdoor Recreation and Information, Tickets and Travel and will offer more than three times the space of their old facility. Outdoor Recreation and ITT will be closed from May 18 - 20 as they move to their new location.

"We're very excited about this move," said Chris Smith, 436th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation manager. "This new facility will be bigger, brighter and more customer friendly than before. We will have more display area so we will be able to serve our customers better by giving them a better look at our selection. We also have a training room where we will be able to teach more classes on base about outdoor activities. We are also looking into installing an indoor rock climbing wall in the future."

The new location is also helpful to Outdoor Recreation, because it brings it closer to the base population, said Mr. Smith. The new Arts and Crafts Center will be constructed next to the new Outdoor Recreation Center.

"I really can't wait for the move," said April Stover, 436th FSS ITT manager. "The ITT office will be getting a much needed facelift and size boost. The customer waiting area will have a lot of useful information on upcoming tours and travel opportunities. We really needed the space and now we're going to have it."

The Outdoor Recreation Center was scheduled to be finished in December 2009, but delays from the weather pushed back the finishing date to early May.

"We've been looking forward to this facility," said Mr. Smith. "It's been really great working with the 436th Civil Engineers Squadron, the Army Corps of Engineers and Richard Y. Johnson, the contractor on this building. They really came together and gave us a quality facility."
