Team Dover celebrates Year of the Air Force Family

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --  The Secretary and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force named July 2009 - July 2010, the Year of the Air Force Family, and Dover Air Force Base has been celebrating family since.

The Year of the Air Force Family has allowed Dover to Highly many existing successful programs while unveiling newly developed programs.

"We already have many successful programs for our Airmen to use," said Susan Holliday, 436th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center director. "The Year of the Air Force Family has given us the monetary opportunity to offer more programs to our Airmen and their families, and help them reach their goals. We love to take care of our Airmen, and these programs offer them so much, be it educational or just a fun time."

The Airmen and Family Readiness Center has been the central hub of this campaign at Dover Air Force Base, supplying Airmen and their families with many services and opportunities to enlist in helpful programs, as well as supplying them with useful information and fun events to bring the family together.


Highlights from the Year of the Air Force Family include:

· Harvest Festival, the kick-off of the Year of the Air Force Family
· Family Outing at Brecknock Nature Trail
· Children and Separation Issues of Deployment seminar
· Parenting skills classes
· Heartlink

"We really enjoy offering these programs to our Airmen," said April Crampton, 436th FSS marketing assistant. "This program brought so many new and interesting events to our calendar, and we've enjoyed them all. We have many more things planned in the future."

One of these programs is the DePLAYment tag, an Air Force wide program designed to assist the families of deployed Airmen by giving them access to free classes, childcare and events. The family must register for the program at www.myairforcelife.com and then pick up their tag at the denoted location with a copy of their orders.
