Car, truck and bike show to be held Aug. 22 Published Aug. 19, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Shen-Chia Chu 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The Auto Hobby Shop will host the Dover Air Force Base Car, Truck and Bike Show, Aug. 22 from 11 - 3 p.m. at the Air Mobility Command Museum. The event is free to the public, both to view and exhibit cars, trucks and motorcycles. "Many people are excited and looking forward to attending the event," said Lorraine Padgett, 436th Force Support Squadron Eagle Lanes Bowling Center assistant manager. "Several people have registered and can't wait to show off their exhibit." In past years, the show has attracted more than 70 vehicles and 300 spectators, according to Xan Salas, 436th FSS Arts & Crafts Center manager. "The event is part of our community outreach program," said Ms. Salas. Ms. Salas said spectators appreciate the vehicles they see at the event and may even get some creative ideas for their own vehicles. Not only are participants displaying their vehicles, but they are also competing for various trophies including the coveted Best Restoration award.
