Airmen may be eligible for retroactive SRB, CSRB payments Published March 4, 2008 By Tech. Sgt. Kevin Wallace 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Dover Airmen, who are currently serving in Air Force Specialty Codes with a selective reenlistment bonus, may be eligible for retroactive payments, provided they reenlisted on, or after Jan. 1. In addition to those AFSCs with SRBs, Airmen whose AFSC receives critical skills retention bonus and who reenlisted Jan. 1 or later, are also affected by the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act. The SRB and CSRB bonus programs expired Dec. 31, 2007, because Congress had not yet approved the fiscal 2008 NDAA. The act was signed by President George W. Bush Jan. 28, and Airmen are authorized retroactive payment effective immediately. Affected Airmen do not need to take any action, said Chief Master Sgt. Christine Williams, Skills Management branch chief at the Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. Personnel specialists here will handle the process. "At Dover Air Force Base, we monitor and contact any 436th Airlift Wing Airman who is affected by an SRB or CSRB," said Tech. Sgt. Verna Ford, 436th Mission Support Squadron career support NCO-in-charge. "When we identify an affected Airman, we open case files and the rest of the process is automatic." Members from the 512th Airlift Wing need to contact the 512th Airlift Wing's Military Personnel Flight for more information or to start the process through the Reserve system. Sergeant Ford advises base Airmen to view the current list of SRBs, which is dated Dec. 15, 2007, to ensure they are not on the list and have not been overlooked. For more information, wing personnel should contact the 436th Mission Support Squadron Career Development section at 677-4564 or 677-4565. Airmen can also visit the AFPC Web site at ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil and search for "SRB" or "CSRB, or call the 24-hour Air Force Contact Center at (800) 616-3775.
