Is it for you? Airman to Cadet USAFA Representative to Speak at Dover AFB Published Sept. 14, 2007 By Tech. Sgt. Kevin Wallace 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Dover Airmen interested in attending the U.S. Air Force Academy can find out first hand from a recent graduate, now Academy Diversity Recruiting office admissions advisor, who is scheduled to speak to Team Dover Airmen and potential Academy Cadets. 2nd Lt. Tara Dunn, a class of 2007 Academy graduate, will speak Sept. 26th from 11 a.m. to noon at building 639, room T-1, across the street from the base education office. "Lieutenant Dunn is coming to speak to single Airmen, under 23 yrs. old, about enlisted opportunities to attend the Air Force Academy," said Frank DiNatale, Dover AFB education services counselor. "The eventual goal is obviously for the Airmen to attend and graduate from the Academy and become commissioned officers." According to the USAFA Website, there are 85 direct-entry slots for active duty and 85 direct-entry slots for Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard, as well as 50 slots for active-duty Airmen to enter the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School. Unlike the potential civilian Cadets, Airmen do not need to seek presidential, vice presidential or congressional nominations since the Airman's commander is the nominating authority. Attending the Academy Preparatory School is an option for Airmen also, said Mr. DiNatale. The academy preparatory school is a 10-month school which provides intensive academic preparation to make applicants better qualified to enter the academy, according to the Website. For information or to sign up to attend Lieutenant Dunn's briefing, call Mr. DiNatale at 677-4624. Also, information about the Academy can be viewed at: http://www.academyadmissions.com.
