A celebration of diversity Published Aug. 16, 2011 By Mittie Kelley 436th Airlift Wing Equal Opportunity DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Diversity enriches our lives. America is a land of diverse people and rich opportunities. For centuries, people have come to America from many nations with dreams of better lives for themselves and their families. On Aug. 26, 2011, Team Dover will be enjoying a 'Celebration of Diversity' at The Landings Club. The Equal Opportunity Office will be hosting a Multi-Cultural Expo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. We want to celebrate the richness of this great nation by celebrating our diversity. Maintaining our different cultural identities can enrich us and help create a healthy working environment. At the Expo, attendees will be invited to pick up a passport at the door and visit the 17 countries on display. These displays will feature elaborate booths, boasting ethnic food samples, customs and entertainment. Additionally, the units will be competing for first, second and third place trophies. The displays will be rated by attendees by casting a vote on their passport. The event will bring a little piece of far off lands to the Dover team and provide a venue for people to learn more about different cultures. Entertainment will be provided by several cultural groups. Our featured performers, 'A Time to Dance Ministry', 'Tinkus San Simon', 'Native American Dance Troop' and Whirl-A-Ways Square Dance Club of Sussex County, will lighten your day with educational and enjoyable performances.
