An excellent place to be stationed Published April 30, 2009 By Col. Eric Wydra 436th AW Vice Commander DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Congratulations Team Dover on the 'Excellent' scores for the Unit Compliance Inspection and Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Program! These results are due to the hard work and dedication that you display each and every day. Your discipline and commitment to our vital mission were validated by the Inspector General's and AMC/A4 evaluator's grades. The IG has deemed us compliant. Your efforts are to be lauded! The challenge now is to maintain your programs at their current level of readiness. Don't squander the monumental efforts of the last nine months by letting your programs atrophy. Remember, under the renewed no-notice inspection program, the IG can return at any time to evaluate our readiness. These inspections prove once again that Dover is America's Preeminent Expeditionary Airlift Team. We've had a phenomenal run over the past 18 months. Some of the more memorable highlights include: winning the 2008 Commander-in-Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence; earning an 'Excellent' on the Operational Readiness Inspection, the Unit Compliance Inspection, and the Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Program inspection; activating the Air Force's newest C-17 squadron; taking possession of the first two modernized C-5Ms; opening the Air Force's largest, most technologically advanced Aerial Port facility; and garnering more than $500 million in construction projects to revitalize our installation and improve quality of life for our Airmen. Naturally, after reviewing that impressive list of accolades, we need to ask what's on the horizon for Dover AFB? In the short term we welcome the National Defense Transportation Association Military Airlift Committee, hosted by our very own Air Mobility Command Commander, Gen. Arthur Lichte, May 7-8. Later in June we will open the gates of Dover AFB to the public for our bi-annual Open House and Airshow where we will showcase the USAF aerial demonstration team, the Thunderbirds. In July our medical group will be visited by the Health Services Inspection Team. Finally, for nine days in August the operations group will receive a quality control review from the AMC Aircrew Standardization and Evaluation team. All while we continue to perform our demanding day-to-day mission. It is truly an exciting time to be stationed at Dover AFB!
