The heavy ice breaker USCGC Polar Star (WAGB 10) moves an approximately 30,000-ton ice pier for construction of a U.S. Army modular causeway system to conduct cargo operations in Antarctica, Jan. 25, 2023.

The U.S. military is uniquely equipped to provide specialized equipment and ships, as well as skilled crewmembers, to ensure the safe delivery and passage of National Science Foundation people and cargo.
