Breaking Barriers: The Endurance Barrier
2D Audiovisual Squadron
Aug. 31, 2017 | 1:41
Aerial refueling started as nothing more than two aircraft flying in close proximity, a hose and a gas can. The flight of the Question Mark proved the concept that refueling an aircraft from another in-flight could be accomplished.
As the air component of the U.S. Transportation Command, AMC is comprised of a Total Force effort to execute Rapid Global Mobility and enable Global Reach –the ability to respond anywhere in the world in a matter of hours. Air Refuelers are the backbone of Global Reach, increasing coalition and U.S. aircraft’s range mid-air.
This video is part of a series of 10 videos for the Air Force's 70th Anniversary. The theme for the series is "Breaking Barriers Since 1947" with each video highlighting a significant milestone in Air Force History.
