AFWERX, the supporting organization for Department of the Air Force’s Innovation Enterprise, and a directorate within the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, unleashes American ingenuity from small businesses and start-ups to tackle the Department of the Air Force's (DAF) most pressing challenges. AFWERX manages the $1.4 billion annual DAF SBIR/STTR budget, and since 2019, has executed 10,400 contracts worth more than $7.2 billion, strengthening the U.S. defense industrial base and accelerating technology transition to operational capability.
