Soldier talks about Army Esports Team
3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (AA) Public Affairs
Sept. 12, 2019 | 1:15
The U.S. Army is modernizing its recruiting efforts and seeking new ways to reach individuals who meet the qualifications necessary to serve. The gaming industry has grown exponentially in recent years. Engaging in social communities built for gamers allows Soldiers to be more relatable and educate young people about who they are and what they do in an authentic way.
Sgt. Russell Lovelace, a cannon crewmember attached to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), is a part of this initiative to bring in a new generation of capable Soldiers. As a stand-out Rakkasan he was chosen to represent the Army on the Army’s Esports team to enhance US Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) efforts.
