Military Family Appreciation Month: The Walsh Family

Sarah Walsh, the mother of four and the wife of Bill Walsh, Commander, Coast Guard Station New York in Staten Island, N.Y., is recognized during Military Family Appreciation Month for her contribution to the Coast Guard Sector New York community. She introduced the homeschooling program to the base after realizing she was the only mother homeschooling her children; the program now includes 10 families with about 35 kids. Sarah volunteers her time many ways- from TeamKID, a program designed to teach kids about the Bible, to coordinating with spouses to bring meals to new mothers or the homeless.
