U.S. Marines with Alpha Company, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division conduct a riverine operation during a deployment for training (DFT) exercise at Fort Stewart, Ga., May 23, 2018. The unit executed riverine operations on the Canoochee River with the AAV-P7/A1 in order to improve their navigation skills. The DFT helps maintain proficiency in landing the surface assault element during amphibious operations to inland objectives in conjunction with mechanized operations and related combat support in operations ashore.
