Exercise Active Shield 2021: Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 conducts hot refueling (B-Roll)
Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni
Oct. 27, 2021 | 3:44
U.S. Marines land two AH-1 Cobras on the parade field to refuel at during Exercise Active Shield at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, Oct. 27, 2021. Due to the forward operating location of the air station, it is critical for the installation and its tenant commands to respond to potential crises on the air station. Exercise Active Shield, conducted annually, is designed to better prepare the station to quickly and safely carry out incident response procedures during base defense operations. Active Shield is an annual bilateral training exercise designed to test U.S. and Japanese forces in their ability to respond to contingencies and cooperatively address challenges faced by the installation.
