Wisconsin National Guard Public Affairs Office
Feb. 5, 2018 | 9:17
February 5, 1918 - The SS Tuscania, a troopship bound for France and carrying U.S. Soldiers, is attacked and sunk off the coast of Ireland. Explore this event in the words of Pfc. Ed Lauer, a medic with Sanitary Squad #8 of the 32nd Division, and Lt. Capt. Wilhelm Meyer, the German submarine commander responsible for sinking the Tuscania. Part of the Dawn of the Red Arrow World War I commemoration campaign.
