MN commemorates Historic flight
Air National Guard
March 5, 2018 | 2:33
On Apr 5, 2018 a small contingent of Minnesota Airmen dedicated a plaque along the running path on Joint Base Anacostia Bolling AFB, commemorating the 1600 mile historic 1920 flight by three forefathers of the Minnesota Air National Guard to what was then Bolling AFB. These men met with Billy Mitchell and started talks which culminated in Minnesota becoming the first federally recognized National Guard flying unit in the nation in Jan 1921.
