2018 Army National Guard Best Warrior competitors put their medical and tactical expertise to the test during a medical event at the Medical Battalion Training Site at Fort Indiantown Gap July 25. The competing Soldiers pushed through lanes in teams of two in dark, low-visibility hallways and corridors, where they encountered a hostile enemy engagement, a friendly casualty to which they needed to provide medical care, and a series of stress-inducing lights, sounds, and music. Competitors called in 9-line MEDEVAC requests and utilized a variety of casualty transportation techniques to transport lifelike dummies to a mock evacuation site.
