AMXS pulls plug on Comm Published July 19, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Samuel Taylor 436th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Bats were heating up at the softball field where the 736th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron scored an 11-8 victory over the 436th Communications Squadron July 18, 2011, at Dover Air Force Base, Del. This was the 736 AMXS's second win against the 436 CS this season. The 436 CS took an early lead in the first inning, scoring three runs. However, the 736 AMXS did not stay down. They rallied in the following innings, securing the lead for the rest of the game. The game wasn't lacking in excitement, featuring high-speed player collisions, diving catches and close plays at the plate. Both teams scored consistently throughout the contest, a trend that has been common for both teams. "[The 436 CS] is a good team," said Chance Wisdom, 736 AMXS coach. "But our players keep fighting and don't give up." The 436 CS continued to fight back, holding the 736 AMXS to a three-run lead going into the final inning. Unfortunately for the 436 CS, they couldn't capitalize. "There were a lot of unforced errors in the field," said Bob Baird, 436 CS coach. "We need to get our gloves down and catch the ball." While 436 CS was concerned mostly with defense, the 736 AMXS plans on improving their offensive play and mental game. "We want to hit a little better, but I'm mostly concerned with our attitude on the field," said Edward "what'd ya say now" Lau, 736 AMXS coach. The season is winding down for Team Dover's softball teams; however, more excitement can be expected in the final seven regular season games.
