Airman First Class Dora Segarra, 436th Aerial Port Squadron, briefs Maj. Gen. Anita Gallentine, Air Force Installation Excellence Selection Board chief, about the Aerial Port’s response to the Elevating Transfer Vehicle mishap. Airman Segarra spoke about how even though the ETV was not operational, Aerial Port Airmen built a 263 pallet-grid yard in two hours and moved 800 tons of cargo in 96 hours with no delays. Charles Squash, 436th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, briefs Col. Stephen Clark, Installation Excellence Selection Board member, about the transient maintenance flight at Dover Air Force Base. Dover’s transient maintenance flight serviced approximately 7,000 missions from Oct. 1, 2008-Sept. 30, 2009, and was voted best by visiting aircrews. Those 7,000 missions were responsible for moving approximately 138,000 tons of cargo and 8,000 passengers. Heat plant decentralization
Dover will soon begin construction to decentralize its aging heat plant, which is expected to save the base about $1.9 million a year and reduce energy consumption by 15 percent.
